The resulting domestic tension is rife with darkly comedic and dramatic possibilities that were better exploited on the printed page, where King was able to more fully delineate his heroine's tortured thought process.
Frank Scheck. A wry, old-fashioned thriller adapted by King from his short story. Gary Goldstein. It's arguably the dullest King film yet, despite solid work by LaPaglia to save it and a decent set-up that goes absolutely nowhere.

Josh Goller. Veteran actors Allen, Lapaglia and Stephen Lang add a level of gravitas that sells the material, countering the matter-of-fact direction from Peter Askin that lends the air of a made-for-TV movie.

View All Critic Reviews This story came to my mind after reading an article about Dennis Rader, the infamous BTK bind, torture, and kill murderer who took the lives of ten people--mostly women, but two of his victimes were children--over a period of roughly sixteen years.
In many cases, he mailed pieces of his victims' identification to the police. Paula Rader was married to this monster for thirty-four years, and many in the Wichita area, where Rader claimed his victims, refuse to believe that she could live with him and not know what he was doing.
I did believe--I do believe--and I wrote this story to explore what might happen in such a case if the wife suddenly found out about her husband's awful hobby.

Get some streaming picks. After 25 years of a good marriage, what will Darcy do once she discovers her husband's sinister secret?
When Bob is gone on business Darcy begins looking around for her stashes of chocolate. What she finds is the missing ID for a woman that was recently killed by a serial killer.
Coming to grips with the fact that her perfect husband is an evil being she isn't sure how to react. This movie is no exception. An ordinary loving couple that seem perfect at first but then a dangerous secret is discovered and everything changes.
There is not a crazed killer in a mask attacking people at random, nor are there people being dismembered just for effect. This one is terrifying because the killer could be someone you know and if that's the case how would you deal with it.
Especially knowing that if you are married to a serial killer will the police really believe you had no idea what was going on?
Like any good King story this one keeps on on edge and you aren't sure if what you are seeing is real or imagined.
The only real downside to this is that it had the feel of a made for TV movie. Other than that I have to say this is worth seeing.
Overall, Stephen King once again proves that reality is the most terrifying thing of all. Looking for some great streaming picks?
