In this one we're sort of in a technology gone world, everyone at one settlement well almost everyone wears Roman history era robes, or in the case of Asian residents, those old pointy woven basket hats.
The settlement is visited by thugs who are all dressed like Hollywood Roman gladiators, along with an old skinny guy who looks like a washed up old long haired wannabe rockstar.
They demand the settlement doubles their output of whatever they contribute to a warlord as rent for being on his ocean, they simply don't have this amount of whatever it was, and tell the washed up rock star this.
He punishes them by taking six healthy women and putting on some old Playstation gloves that when he starts conducting and making pushing motions with his hands, allow him to make sharks jump out the water and take people to their deaths in their mouths.
One of the six women taken as slaves is Willow, the settlement's hot blonde chick. This doesn't go down well with the only guy who wears modern day clothing, who also has an advanced technology modern personal sub, he is determined to get her back not the other women mind you, but just her.
He fails in his rescue attempt so sets off to a bar with another of his community's females to trade some stuff for help, they meet a drunk thug at the door, who blocks the door and takes their stuff, so they go, "oh well, I guess that's that then," and turn around to leave.
Luckily for them an old lady drinking at the bar stands up to the thug and gets their sack of rubbish back. Inside the bar they recruit some mentally unbalanced people to help them.
However hiring mentally unbalanced people, especially when you're a complete wuss, is never a good idea.
Meanwhile Willow Ashley de Lange is discovering she somehow can make sharks do what she wants too. She just doesn't understand how.
This isn't pleasing to the warlord who wants her to tell him how she is doing it, because you know he looks kind of stupid wearing these video game gloves.
For a warlord who thinks nothing of tying slaves who aren't productive to tyres and using those gloves to have his fun with the sharks, he never thinks of maybe trying torture or threatening to do things to her to get her to co-operate.
It's a fun "bad movie", you're always entertained. There is a little too much of the same shark jumping right to left over the same jetty near the end though.
Spoiler for the ending though - I don't understand why if the Asian guy knows all about how to control sharks so will train Willow to master her skills, he does literally nothing when the residents are being attacked or are under threat of being wiped from the surface of the earth's oceans.

Set in the same universe as the film 'Planet of the Sharks', this is a completely standalone story with new characters. Make no mistake - this is a film from The Asylum which has been made on a miniscule budget and in a very short timeframe.
It's fairly rough around the edges but this time as opposed to the first film the story holds together reasonably well and just enough time is spent getting to know the lead characters, building some rapport with the audience.
There's nothing new here but it's entertaining enough for what it is. These films, being set on the ocean, are shot in bright sunlight so there's never any issues with scenes being lost in the dark, as so often happens with monster movies.
And although there are quite a lot of cheap digital special effects, many of them including sharks, there's not so many that they eat up the entire production budget and overshadow the story.
